CCC Testimony: New York City Council Finance Hearing on Fiscal Year 2013 Executive Budget Proposals

Published June 2012

CCC testified about the impact the Fiscal Year 2013 Executive Budget proposals would have on children at the June 6, 2012 New York City Council Finance Committee Public Hearing on the Fiscal Year 2013 Executive Budget proposals.

CCC’s testified that we were deeply disappointed to see that the Executive Budget failed to ameliorate $110 million in cuts to children’s services such as mental health services for young children, child health clinics, runaway and homeless youth services, the Teen RAPP program, and the City’s suicide prevention hotline. Furthermore, CCC testified that we were shocked and disappointed that the Executive Budget also failed to address the City’s current plan to eliminate child care and after-school services for over 47,000 children.

CCC urged the City Council and the Mayor to negotiate an Adopted Budget that restores these critical services for children.
